Highlights of the Fall Educational Meeting

On April 15, 2000, the AOTC held an educational meeting at Kaiser Permanente Harbor City. There were 57 attendees that participated in the meeting. This meeting offered 8 ceu's for Ortho Techs. The agenda consisted of Dr. Peters on shoulder instability, Dr. Leone on scaphoid fractures, Dr. Harbison on the diabetic foot, Sandy Kaneko, ATC on shoulder therapy and Derek Schultz on fracture splinting. The afternoon session consisted of in-depth fracture bracing and splinting from Derek Schultz and Anthony Kjenstad of Dj Ortho.
During the meeting we had raffles, and we thank Royce Medical, DePuy OrthoTech, 3m, V.N. Medical, and Dj Ortho for donating gifts. The raffle was exciting and a lot of laughs and kept the meeting fun and interesting.
The AOTC would like to thank Derek Schultz and Anthony Kjenstad of Dj Ortho. Derek Schultz was instrumental in sponsoring the educational meeting and again we thank him and Dj Ortho for all they did for our meeting. Dj Ortho hosted our continental breakfast and lunch, thanks Derek! Also, the AOTC thanks Danny Corpuz of Kaiser Permanente for arranging for Kaiser to open their friendly doors for our educational meeting. Many thanks to our vendors that exhibited the latest products in orthopaedics. They were, Sue Brusso of 3m Casting Division, Nick and Vince Ortega of V.N. Medical, Rick Stone of Professional Products, Inc., Daniel Kim and David Yi of Meditech Marketing and Derek Schultz and Anthony Kjenstad of Dj Ortho.
The AOTC held a general business meeting and elections for president and vice president were held. Jack Hart was elected President and Troy Fite was elected Vice President. The AOTC would like to welcome the new Treasurer, Louis Rodriquez. An announcement was made for those interested in the position of Treasurer. Louis Rodriguez and Armando Sanchez stepped up for the election and gave a speech on why they would like to be Treasurer, it was a very close race. Frank Perreault was appointed election chair and with the help of Evan Hobbs the newly elected officer was announced. We thank both of these colleagues for wanting to get more involved in the AOTC.
The AOTC looks forward to having many more educational meetings in the future and again, thank you Derek Schultz of Dj Ortho for sponsoring our excellent educational meeting!
