The AOTC will hold the annual Spring meeting at the Kaiser Permanente Harbor City.  This is a “Teach for NAOT” meeting sponsored by BSN Medical.  Be sure to register early as this workshop will fill up quickly.  This meeting will offer 7 continuing educational units.  If you have questions regarding the meeting please contact Jack Hart at 562-595-6944 or Danny Corpuz at 310-517-2873.  The registration fee is $10.00 for AOTC members and $20.00 for non-members and is limited to 75 participants only.

From the 405 (San Diego Fwy) North – South, take the 110 (Harbor Fwy) South.  Exit Pacific Coast Hwy, turn right.  Turn left on Vermont, turn

into Kaiser Permanente Harbor City.

Highlights of the meeting

 

   On May 3, 2003 the A.O.T.C. held its annual Spring Educational meeting at Kaiser Permanente Hospital-Harbor City. This meeting was generously sponsored by B.S.N. Medical.Once again, the AOTC would like to thank Danny Corpuz, OT-C of Kaiser Permanente Hospital-Harbor City and Jack Hart, OT-C, President / A.O.T.C., for planning and coordinating our educational meeting as well as Kaiser Permanente for opening their doors once again to host our meeting.
   After the Continental Breakfast, sponsored by B.S.N. Medical, the meeting kicked off with the "Opening Remarks" from Jack Hart, President / A.O.T.C.. Jack introduced the attendees to the N.A.O.T. and the A.O.T.C.  and emphasized the importance of supporting your professional organizations, both local and national.  Dr. Michael Purne gave an informative Orthopaedic Surgery Trauma Update. Dr. Purne's lecture was followed by John Broad, RN giving his lecture on the Importance of sterile technique in surgery.  At 9:45 a.m. was the morning break for networking with fellow colleagues and to visit the vendors to see what the latest Orthopedic products looked like and how they were improved. After the morning break Dr. Strauss gave a fascinating talk about the wound classification system. At 11:00 a.m. Jack Hart, OTC stepped up to the podium and gave a lecture on "The Fundamentals of Casting and Splinting". After Jacks lecture lunch was served. At 1:00 p.m. the casting and splinting workshop kicked off and everyone got busy. This meeting was also attended by a group of P.A. students, from U.S.C.,  wanting to learn what casting and splinting was all about. Our doors are always open to everyone who wants to improve their skills and knowledge in the field of Orthopaedic Technology.
