meeting kicked off
with the "Opening Remarks" from Jack Hart, President / A.O.T.C.. Jack
introduced the attendees to the N.A.O.T. and the A.O.T.C. and
emphasized the importance of supporting your professional organizations,
both local and national.
Dr. Michael Purne gave an
informative Orthopaedic
Surgery Trauma Update. Dr. Purne's lecture was followed by John Broad,
RN giving his lecture on the Importance of sterile technique in surgery.
At 9:45 a.m. was the morning break for networking with fellow colleagues
and to visit the vendors to see what the latest Orthopedic products looked
like and how they were improved. After the morning break Dr. Strauss gave
a fascinating talk about the wound classification system. At 11:00 a.m.
Jack Hart, OTC stepped up to the podium and gave a lecture on "The
Fundamentals of Casting and Splinting".
After Jacks lecture lunch was served. At 1:00 p.m. the casting and
splinting workshop kicked off and everyone got busy. This meeting was also
attended by a group of P.A. students, from U.S.C., wanting to learn what casting and
splinting was all about. Our doors are always open to everyone who wants to
improve their skills and knowledge in the field of Orthopaedic Technology.
